So we're 3 weeks into Kumis pregnancy now, she's had no morning sickness or anything but at home she seems a bit more mellow. We hope this is a good sign as they say bitches get more affectionate during pregnancy but for Kumi that isn't possible! I can't believe 3 weeks has gone so quickly, it won't be long until we can do a scan and find out for sure if there are puppies.
Carole brought Kumi down to the agility field this weekend and I got a few pictures of her, each time I see her her coat seems even glossier and thicker, she's truly breath taking right now!
Myself and Carole are starting to go and visit dog training clubs so we can decide where to take our puppies, we're looking for trainers who are patient and calm. No shouting, yanking on the lead, no telling the dogs off or using things like choke chains. We want trainers who use treats and preferably clickers, or at least those who don't mind us using our clickers in their class.
For puppy socialising classes we won't go to a vets where it tends to be a bit of a free for all and some puppies get picked on. Instead we want someone experienced, who keeps a close eye on the puppies and steps in where needed. Some places will split the puppies into groups, the more lively pups together and the quieter ones together so no-one is overwhelmed. You don't want a puppy who gets bullied and develops fears, the experiences your pup has in its first 12 weeks are the most important ones and will have a massive impact on their lives.
It might be worth you guys starting to look around, best to be prepared. If you need any advice feel free to email us or ask on facebook. Enjoy the pictures of Kumi, the next post I make will probably be with news of the scan.
